Five individuals in Sri Lanka's Commonwealth Games 2022 contingent have tested positive for Covid-19 after arriving in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

The 22nd Commonwealth is scheduled to start on Thursday (25).

Among the five individuals who tested positive are two gymnasts, a gymnastics coach, and a male and female basketball player.

The Lankan contingent authorities are concerned about the pending situation and are keeping a very close tab on the situation.

"They have been given recuperation facilities in an isolation hotel organized by Commonwealth Games Organisers. They are in good hands and well taken care of," a spokesperson for Sri Lanka's contingent said.
